Diploma of Events Management Majoring in Tourism Hospitality

Course Length: 18 months

This qualification is aimed at people wishing to expand on their Certificate III qualifications, or those wishing to become an Independent Meetings Manager, Conference Organiser/Manager, Incentives Manager, Exhibition/Venue Manager or Events Manager. This course is ideally suited to people who wish to gain the practical skills and knowledge necessary to carry out coordinator
activities at an operative level, and facilitates progression to professional Meetings Manager who is responsible for all aspects of Meetings, Conference, Exhibitions or Event Management.


Entry Requirement


The prerequisite for entering this course is either the satisfactory completion of Year 10 English or an IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent).
Career and study pathway Successful completion of this qualification may lead to further study such as the Advanced Diploma of Tourism Management, a degree, such as Bachelor of Tourism Management, or employment in the tourism/events sector as an Independent Meetings Manager, Events Manager, Conference Organiser/Manager, Incentives Manager, or an Exhibition/Venue Manager.


Units of Competency


This qualification requires students to complete 40 units of competency (21 Core units + 12 Stream units + 7 Elective units). Students who have already completed appropriate units elsewhere may have them credited towards the Diploma of Events Management via the Mutual Recognition process. as two elective places have been used by THHHCO01B & THHCOR03B)


Program Structure


All common core units and the two electives listed (THHHCO01B and THHCOR03B) will be taught to students as a large group along with those students completing Diploma of Tourism
(Operations Management) and Diploma of Tourism (Management & Product Development), and then the stream units will be taught, after this the elective units will be taught. All elective units of
competency are to be taught separately as students may choose which units they will participate in.
