New South Wales
New South Wales
Australia’s oldest state, New South Wales is a diverse state, which attracts visitors from all of Australia and worldwide. Its’ capital city, Sydney, is not only Australia’s oldest city but also one of the world’s most famous cities.
With beautiful Sydney Harbour, Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, Aboriginal Cultural Cruises and Historical Walking Tours, Sydney is not only a hip and bustling modern city, but also a city with culture and a respect for its’ history that has brought it to be the city that it is today. Since the settlement of Sydney’s very first Europeans, in 1788, the city has continued to evolve with the ever-changing times.
The city offers great shopping, a fantastic nightlife and first-class education.
With Manly and Bondi Beach, Sydney is also home to some of the most famous beaches in the world.
Leaving Sydney behind and heading west will place visitors in the heart of NSW. This area offers peaceful beauty, top-quality wineries and some of Australia’s oldest settlements. Many of these quaint towns were the result of the Australian Gold Rush, and a visit to the Turon River at Sofala gives visitors the opportunity to pan for their very own gold.
With hundreds of National Parks and Reserves dotting New South Wales’ landscape, there is a National Park or Reserve that will interest anyone.
A trip to Bald Rock National Park, in the northern region of the state, gives visitors the opportunity to camp under open skies and see Australia’s largest granite rock, Bald Rock; while a trip to Mummel Gulf National Park, will allow visitors to explore on horseback, bicycle, walking trails or by 4WD.
Occupying the western region of the state is New South Wales’ Outback. Dry and rugged, this region of the state is just as interesting as any other region in NSW. Mutawintji National Park allows visitors to learn more about the Aboriginal influences that lay deep within the regions heritage. With the direction of a local Aboriginal guide, visitors can explore what was once one of Australia’s most important spiritual meeting places to Aborigines from all around. Ancient Aboriginal rock art adorns the rocks, and ancient fireplaces scatter the land.
Bright lights of cities, beautiful beaches, quaint towns, wide-open spaces and nature’s exquisiteness, New South Wales’ diversity, sunny skies and friendly people will continue to attract visitors every year for years to come.
